Our Playlist
Ariane and I are pleased to welcome you to listen to the songs we’ve enjoyed together over the years, as well as songs that tell our story from beginning up until now.
We hope you enjoy some classics, discover some new music, and perhaps come up with your own playlist of songs based on what we’ve got.
Enjoy, and let us know what you think.
Some things to note...
So, we originally had this one giant playlist that had all the songs, but we’re only allowed to put 100 songs in a playlist that will show up in one playlist. Anyways, you’ll find the structure of the playlist unique as it is kind of a chronological order type situation, after the first few songs, it goes in order of songs that remind us of the beginning and how we felt throughout the last almost seven years.
One of the unique parts of our playlist details a ‘breakup section’ because we did have a brief moment in time in which we had to separate to truly find out what it is we really wanted. This section is followed up with a bit of spirituality, and then it ends with our journey to getting married which will kickoff a brand new chapter in our life.
Like we said before, if you like the music, we have a million recommendations, and we’re also open to adding more songs to our list, so drop us a line and let us know what you think.
Double A's 10 Songs To Mention
Here are 10 of the songs that needed to have extra explanations from Ariane and Anthony. They stand out because each has a significant place in their love story. This list references songs in order of appearance.
Ben Rector - Forever Like That
This song was originally meant to be our first dance as a couple during our initial wedding plans. With everything that’s happened, we hope to one day dance this as our opening song. That’s why “Forever Like That” is first on our playlist.
Favorite lyrics: “Well I’ll be your shade tree in summer
If you’ll be my fire when it’s cold
And whatever the season, well, we’ll keep on breathing
‘Cause we’ll have each other to hold”
Capital Cities - Farrah Fawcett Hair
It’s good s#$t!
Anthony played this song during a morning he made me (Ariane) breakfast before I was off to a conference or workshop that day. I just remember how catchy it was, and I love that the NPR guy was on the song.
Favorite lyrics: “I like it when it rains at night and I’m curled up in bed with a good book
I like it when I turn my head around and I catch you looking back”
Jodeci - Good Luv
The morning after a long conversation, I (Anthony) remember waking up to this song on Ariane’s “Wake Me Up” playlist. I don’t really listen to Jodeci, mainly because I was more into K-Ci and Jojo, but I loved this immediately. The guitar strings that start off the song as well as how catchy the tune sounds is what makes the song for me.
Favorite lyrics: “when it comes to love, I gotta get some of your good luv
so I turn to you, ’cause no one else can do what you do”
Michael Bublé - To Love Somebody
The first concert we ever went to was Michael Bublé in November 2013. This was the song he ended the concert with (before the encore performance, of course). We know it’s a cover, but Bublé does an amazing job with his crooner twist on this classic.
Favorite lyrics: “There’s a light
A certain kind of light
That never shone on me
I want my life to be lived with you”
Adele - Make You Feel My Love
Sometimes when we’re lounging around the house, we take the guitar and this song somehow gets played. We love this version of this song because it’s Adele who sang it. Again, another cover where the artist did a slightly better job than the original.
Favorite lyrics: “I could make you happy
Make your dreams come true
Nothing that I wouldn’t do
Go to the ends
Of the Earth for you
To make you feel my love”
Aegis - Halik
Every couple goes through ups and downs, and sometimes things just have to end. It was during this time in 2019 where we had to just be on our own for a bit to truly discover what it is that we really want. This song (among many that we listed during the ‘breakup section’ of our playlist) symbolizes what we were feeling while we were apart. Bonus: it’s in Tagalog, and Anthony loves singing this song on karaoke.
Favorite lyrics: “Lumayo ka man ay maiiwan
Ang bakas ng ating pagmamahalan
Ang awiting ito ay alaala
na hindi kita malilimutan”
John Splithoff - Show Me featuring Madison Ryann Ward
Another song from the ‘breakup section’ of our playlist. John Splithoff and Madison Ryann Ward’s voices complement each other as they tell a story about lovers who have broken apart but still have feelings for each other. Everything about this song details our journey back to getting together.
Favorite lyrics: “I know I didn’t make it wrong
But I didn’t make it right
I could make it better by holding you tonight
And I don’t need to use my words to show you how Im forreal
So if you want me, show me how you feel”
Jonathan and Emily Martin - Two Becoming One
When we reunited, we decided to put a focus on our spirituality and joining in a union to mirror that of what God wishes for us. We attribute a lot of what we have accomplished this year to God and being more Christ-like. This song exemplifies our commitment to each other and to God.
Favorite lyrics: “When we’re weak and when we’re strong
When its hard to carry on
Oh, God we want your love on display
We are two becoming one”
Allen Stone - Consider Me
Spotify has this unique feature where if you like a certain song and you play its radio, it auto fills a playlist with similar songs, styles, and content. In this case, listening to Lawrence (check out “Do You Wanna Do Nothing With Me?” btw, we love that song), led us to this song, ‘Consider Me’. It is a song about finding that one special person you wanna spend the rest of your life with and hope that they feel the same way about you.
Favorite lyrics: “Oh if you want real attraction
Beyond this skin we fashion
Someone to set your spirit free
Someone that you’re obsessed with
And that you feel blessed with
Baby all I ask is you consider me”
Us the Duo - No Matter Where You Are (Wedding Version)
If you’ve seen the film, ‘The Book of Life’, then you might recognize this song. There were two versions of this song released, and believe it or not, Us the Duo, sang this song as their wedding vows when they got married. It perfectly matches up the way we feel about each other, and after the ups and the downs, this puts on a exclamation point on our journey as we start the next chapter.
Favorite lyrics: “I will stand by you
Even when we fall
I will be the rock, that holds you up
And lifts you high so you stand tall”
